The exhaust system is a series of pipes and boxes designed to channel emissions away from the front of the vehicle, reduce engine noise and maintain optimum fuel efficiency. The importance of maintaining a healthy exhaust system and the impact a faulty exhaust system can have on the environment is not something people automatically think about.

Identifying the problems: Should notice any of the following you should have your exhaust checked by an expert this will ensure you know if any components need replacing.

Emissions: Blue smoke – Could indicate a fault in the engine placing burnt oil into the exhaust system this results in blue smoke. White smoke – If White smoke continues be present, it could be due to internal coolant leaks, the white smoke is the result of burning antifreeze. If there are no water leaks underneath your car it could be a leaking head gasket or a crack in the engine.

Visual appearance: Any rust or corrosion on the pipes and or cracks, if where the pipes connect could indicate a problem.
